Scent Story No. 01
Thai Mango Sticky Rice
Some scents take you places. Others bring you home.
Sweet, golden and softly indulgent, with a velvety touch of coconut and a gentle bloom of jasmine.
Growing up in Thailand, some of my fondest memories were made in my mum’s kitchen.
In Thailand, we make mango sticky rice with a particular mango called Nam Dok Mai (น้ำดอกไม้). It’s golden-yellow, incredibly sweet, soft and fragrant, and it’s the one we love most for this dessert. I remember watching my mum prepare it: ripe mango, warm sticky rice, the comforting smell of coconut. It was never just about the food. It was home, family, and ordinary moments that only became precious later.
Even now, when I have mango sticky rice here in Australia, it never tastes quite the same. Maybe it’s the mangoes. Or maybe some things just taste better when you’re home.
Jasmine is the other scent that has always stayed with me. In Thailand, we infuse water with jasmine flowers to give our desserts a delicate fragrance. But for me it’s more than food. It’s the flower I grew up with, and the smell of going to the temple with my mum.
In 2014, at 21, I left Thailand for Australia with nothing but curiosity about the world beyond home. I didn’t know how many places I’d discover or how much I’d change along the way. But no matter how far I travelled, a part of me stayed in Thailand. There are days I miss my mum’s cooking, the flavours of my childhood, and the feeling of belonging to the place where it all began.
That’s why I created Thai Mango Sticky Rice: a scent that could bring me back to those moments, even briefly.
With notes of sweet mango, creamy coconut and soft jasmine, this candle is my little piece of Thailand, recreated here in Perth.
Whenever I light it, I’m reminded of my roots, my mum’s love, and the young woman who was brave enough to leave everything familiar behind.
Because sometimes, no matter how far life takes us, all it takes is one familiar scent to bring us home

Scent journey No. 02
Scarborough Sunset
Some scents take you places. This one makes the distance feel smaller.
Fresh, warm and softly floral, with a romantic glow.
Before Perth was home, its sunsets were already part of our story.
My boyfriend and I were in a long-distance relationship, living in different time zones. We kept choosing each other through the distance, holding on until we could be together again.
One of my favourite memories from that time is a video call from the beach. He would go for a swim while I watched from the other side of the screen, and together we watched the sun set over the West Coast. It was such a simple thing, but it was the closest we could get to being in the same place.
Those evenings stayed with me. They’re part of why I moved to Perth, and why Scarborough became one of my favourite places. Now we run along the shoreline, swim at sunset and watch that same golden light settle over the ocean together.
Scarborough Sunset is for anyone who knows what it means to miss someone, keep showing up, and finally find your way back together.
Sea salt for the fresh air along the coast, frangipani for the soft, romantic warmth of those evening swims, and sandalwood for the depth that keeps it all warm long after the light has gone. Together, they bring me back to a sunset that meant more than its beauty.
Some sunset stay with you long after the distance is gone.

Perth Hills Bushwalk
Some scents take you places. This one takes you out into the Perth Hills.
Earthy, woody and honestly smoky.
After moving to Perth from New Zealand, hiking was one of the things I kept coming back to. On weekends I’d head out to the bushwalks in the hills, sometimes to clear my mind, sometimes for exercise, and sometimes just to get some fresh air and step away from screens and social media.
Out on the track, I could slow down and be fully present. The Perth Hills became a place where the bush and the city felt connected, somewhere I could return to and feel at home.
And it doesn’t always smell the way you’d expect. Some days it’s nothing but fresh air. Other days, when controlled burns have been through, you can smell woodsmoke drifting along the track. It’s the part postcards leave out, so I made sure this candle didn’t.
I created Perth Hills Bushwalk to smell like the bush as I know it: deep, earthy and woody, with eucalyptus for the open bush air, pine for its green, quiet presence, and a trace of woodsmoke.
Perth Hills Bushwalk is my way of sharing a place I love, and a moment to step away from the screens and connect with nature.
Eucalyptus · Pine · Woodsmoke

Margaret River Escape
Some scents take you places. This one gives you the space to slow down.
Warm, bright and grounded, with a rich edge of burnt fig.
Whenever we have visitors from overseas, this is where we take them. If you want to show someone Western Australia properly, not just Perth, Margaret River is where you go.
It’s a couple of hours south, and somewhere along the drive the city simply falls away. I’ve made the trip many times now, and it still surprises me with how beautiful it is. We wander from winery to winery, step down into Mammoth Cave and Lake Cave, and end up on quiet stretches of coast like Contos Beach, where it feels like the whole shoreline belongs to you.
Margaret River showed me that an escape doesn’t have to be far. It only has to be somewhere that slows you down.
I created Margaret River Escape to capture that feeling. I chose burnt fig over grape because it carries the rich, honeyed warmth I remember from walking through different wineries, deep and slightly caramelised without being too sweet. Lemon myrtle, an Australian native, brings a bright, green citrus lift, like fresh air after the cool of the caves. Cedarwood sits underneath, dry and softly woody, giving the whole scent its depth and keeping it grounded.
Together, they bring a little of that escape into your home.
Light it when you need a moment to exhale, or to welcome guests the way Margaret River welcomes me.

Bali Yoga Retreat
Some scents take you places. This one leads you back to yourself.
Deep, incense-like and grounding, with a soft smoke of Nag Champa.
In 2024, I spent six weeks in Bali: three at a 200-hour yoga teacher training retreat, and three exploring the island, including a week on a motorbike with my boyfriend, chasing seven waterfalls and eating durian from roadside vendors. I was at a crossroads, on a soul-searching journey, hoping to find something meaningful and make a difference in the world. I wasn’t sure I wanted to become a teacher. I simply wanted to give the experience a chance.
At the retreat, I met people from all walks of life, each with their own reason for being there. Some hoped to teach. Others, like me, were searching for what came next. Sharing that with them changed how I saw the possibilities ahead, and showed me how many of us are quietly asking the same questions. Some of them have become very special friends, and we are still connected today.
If you’re in a season of change right now, perhaps in your thirties and unsure of what comes next, you are not alone. I wasn’t either, even when it felt that way.
Slowly, I began to understand that the experience could be meaningful even if teaching wasn’t my path. It helped me see what felt right for me, and gave me a fresh perspective on the many ways a life can unfold. The answer, I realised, is usually already inside us. We just need to be quiet enough to hear it.
It was a mix of very different experiences, from winding roads and roadside durian to long, quiet mornings on the mat, and yet all of it ran deep: deep in love with life, and deep in self-reflection.
Yoga has always taught me about balance: that it isn’t somewhere you arrive once, but a sweet spot you keep finding again, between effort and ease, doing and being, holding on and letting go. It reminded me that we are human beings, not human doings. When life feels chaotic, I step onto my mat, breathe, meditate and find my way back to it. In Bali, in the middle of a loud and busy world, I felt aligned.
At the retreat, incense was often lit before practice, and its deep, smoky aroma became part of how I remember slowing down. I chose Nag Champa, frankincense and myrrh for their warm, woody, incense-like character, the calm, grounding atmosphere of a retreat or temple. I wanted this scent to offer a little space to pause: to take a breath, reconnect with yourself, and remember that home can be a feeling you find within.
Breathe in Bali. Carry the stillness home.

SCENT STORY NO. 06
Roman Baths
Steps into the ancient Roman
Serene, softly floral and quietly luxurious, with a gentle touch of amber.
During my Europe trip, I visited the Roman Baths in Bath. I was in awe of the ancient ruins and the scale and beauty of the place. Standing above the Great Bath, I tried to imagine what it must have felt like when the rooms were alive with people.
The Romans moved between spaces of different temperatures—from warm rooms to hot rooms and a cold plunge. There were places to sweat, bathe, swim and linger. The baths were part of Roman social life, where people met and spent time together.
The museum’s scent display made that imagined world feel closer. I remember smelling lavender, which the display described as a popular scent in massage oils. I could picture the warm air carrying the fragrance of oils and steam, with fires heating the rooms beneath people’s feet.
One detail made the history feel wonderfully human: people’s belongings could be stolen while they bathed. Wealthier visitors might bring attendants to watch their clothes, while others could pay someone at the baths. If something went missing, people wrote to Sulis Minerva on small lead tablets, asking the goddess to help return their stolen things and punish the thief.
As I stood there, I began to imagine myself stepping back in time: settling into the warmth, breathing in the lavender-scented air, and letting the day fall away. That image stayed with me. I chose rose petal for a romantic softness, then amber for the warm, enveloping feeling I imagined in those ancient rooms.
Now, after a long day, I light Roman Baths in the evening as I prepare for a winddown and relaxing evening. The fragrance turns that everyday ritual into a journey of its own—a little Roman luxury, a little quiet, and a moment to let the day go before restful sleep.
